I have recently been certified as a Shui practitioner. Feng Shui is the art of furniture placement and amendments to create balance and harmony in your living space, office and business. It can accomplish better health, financial success, and harmonious relationships. It can also help you attract more love in your life, attract a love partner. I will post success stories in the future. For now, I wanted to let everyone know that I give Feng Shui workshops and work with clients in those areas.

Potential purchasers know they might be interested in your home within 8-10 seconds. It sounds unbelievable in a way BUT if your entry is cluttered, that means the rest of your house is cluttered. If there is dirt (whether it is carpeting or floor), it will be a big turn-off. If there is a long, lonely hallway with no pictures, plants, accessories, that probably means the rest of the house will be bland and won’t show off the prime features of the house. If there is no welcoming landscape (which doesn’t have to be costly), you are telling people, “we really don’t care if you come in or not.” All of these features are not costly and can be easily achieved. Think: “I want you (potential purchaser) to come in and enjoy the features of this home. I want you to like it enough to put in an offer.”

HOW COLOR CAN ENHANCE STAGING

In my home staging work, I am amazed at the number of homes that have no color in their decor. What does this do to a potential purchaser(s)? Probably, bores them and doesn’t induce them to want to see more — maybe they’re yawning. Color can make a room pop! It adds dimention to an otherwise neutral room. Imagine, you have a brown sofa and matching club chair, an oak coffee table, along with end tables. Two glass-based lamps with white shades, no pictures on the wall, and a flat-screen TV on the wall above the fireplace. Ho-hum. Now, add some great multi-colored pillows (they can be designed or one color). Imagine big orange and green flowers on several pillows, along with solids green and orange, or blue and green, or mauve and green. Add some accessories in these colors, a book or two on the coffee table, and an area rug. What do you have now? A room that is easy on the eye — that will pull the potential buyer’s eyes to the beauty of the room, rather than it’s neutrality. When you are staging your home, please try to give the rooms some personality. You are selling your house and unfortunately, it has to have the personality of a model home, not the home you have lived in for many years. Please keep in mind you are no longer the residents, you are the sellers. Hope this gives you something to think about.
